THE
CATLINS
Molyneux House is in the
Kaka Point Village, on the Southern Scenic Route and a great place to
base yourself for all the Catlins scenic attractions.
Kaka Point Village: A quaint little settlement with approx
300 residents. Patrolled beach, shop, restaurant and
bar, beach walks and bush walks and much more......
Nugget Point Lighthouse Reserve (10 minutes drive from
Molyneux House): NZ fur seals, sea lions, yellow-eyed penguin viewing
and other abundant bird life.
Owaka Village: Information Centre, petrol and garage,
postal service, museum, police and Doctor. Department of Conservation
Area Office.
Pounawea Village : Camping grounds, Convention Centre,
bush walks
Jack's Bay : 1 hour walk (return) to "the blowhole".
A must see if you like to see something a little different.
Cannibal and Surat Bays: A wonderful place to view
the Sealion colony. Just a 10 minute walk along the beach.
Catlins River walk: walks of varying lengths up to 4 hours.
Purakaunui Falls: 20 minutes return walk.
Matai Falls and Horseshoe Falls: 40 minutes return walk.
Papatowai Village: petrol,
shop, and other amenities.
Cathedral Caves: 20 minutes walk to spectacular caves
accessible only at low tide. Check tide times at Info Centres.
MacLean Falls: 40 minutes return walk (wonderful)
Curio Bay: Fossel Forest. The fossils are exposed on
the tidal platform at low tide. (160 million years old) Check tide times
at Info Centres.
Slope Point: Southern most point of South Island and
viewing point.

Just over an hour to Dunedin where you can
